The oldest active German salt mine has been operating since 1517 and was redesigned as an interactive adventure mine in 2007. Lovingly redesigned to retain historic features, you can learn about the history of salt mining while creating special memories - for example, with a cruise across the mirror lake or a wild ride down the mine slide. For all info and tickets, visit the Salt Mine website.

Royal Berchtesgaden Castle

The imposing Berchtesgaden Castle offers glimpses of history and royal splendor. On a guided tour, you can admire the majestic interiors as well as impressive art collections and hunting trophies. When the weather is nice, a visit to the beautiful rose garden is also recommended.

One particular gem is the community of Ramsau bei Berchtesgaden, whose location and architecture make it look almost as if it had stepped out of a storybook. In addition to the beautiful view, you can gain valuable insights into Bavarian culture and customs.

Predigtstuhl cable car

This famous cable car has been in service since 1928 and takes visitors to the top of the 1614-meter Predigtstuhl. The elegant gondola design in 1920s style makes the Predigtstuhlbahn a real eye-catcher. On the ride, you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the landscape.

Culinary delightsA feast for your palate.

Just like the landscape and nature, the culinary delights of the Berchtesgadener Land are a remarkable experience. The regional cuisine reflects the diversity and tradition of the area and spoils your palate with hearty delicacies.

Berchtesgadener mountain cheese

The so-called Schüss'lkas is the specialty of the Berchtesgadener Land. It is made from skimmed milk and nowadays is only produced in the mountain pastures of this region. Its crumbly consistency makes the cheese unique. Berchtesgadener cheese definitely belongs with a hearty meal.

Weißwurst breakfast

Pretzels, beer, and white sausages, and that before noon, are probably one of the most famous meals in the Bavarian region. You can also enjoy a traditional Weißwurst breakfast in Berchtesgadener Land. A must during a vacation in the Alps!

Almbrotzeit

Hikers beware - during an extensive tour of the alpine pastures, a stop in one of the huts provides the necessary refreshment before the descent. We recommend a traditional Almbrotzeit with Speckbrot and Almkas and many other hearty delicacies.
