Königssee

Watzmann

With an altitude of 2713 metres at its central peak, the Watzmann is the highest point in the Berchtesgaden Alps and the third highest mountain in Germany. Berchtesgaden Salt Mine

The oldest active German salt mine has been in operation since 1517 and was remodelled into an interactive adventure mine in 2007. Thanks to the loving redesign, which has retained historical features, you can learn about the history of salt mining and create special memories - for example with a trip across the mirror lake or a wild ride down the mountain slide. Royal Berchtesgaden Castle

The imposing Berchtesgaden Castle offers insights into history and royal splendour. During a guided tour, you can admire the majestic interiors as well as impressive art collections and hunting trophies. If the weather is fine, we also recommend a visit to the beautiful rose garden.

Ramsau near Berchtesgaden

The Berchtesgadener Land region is home to countless picturesque villages that are always worth a visit thanks to their traditional architecture and natural scenery. Predigtstuhlbahn cable car

The famous cable car has been in operation since 1928 and takes visitors to the summit of the 1614 metre-high Predigtstuhl. The elegant gondola design in 1920s style makes the Predigtstuhlbahn a real eye-catcher. You can enjoy a breathtaking view of the landscape on the journey.

Culinary delights - A feast for your palate.

Just like the landscape and nature, the culinary delights of Berchtesgadener Land are a remarkable experience. The regional cuisine reflects the diversity and tradition of the area and spoils your palate with hearty delicacies.

Berchtesgaden mountain cheese

The so-called Schüss'lkas is the speciality of the Berchtesgaden region. It is made from skimmed milk and is now only produced in the mountain pastures of this region. Its crumbly consistency makes the cheese unique. Berchtesgadener cheese is definitely part of a hearty snack.

Bavarian veal sausage breakfast

Pretzels, beer and veal sausages, before 12 noon, are probably one of the most famous meals in Bavaria. You can also enjoy a traditional Weißwurst breakfast in Berchtesgadener Land. A must on a holiday in the Alps!

Hikers take note - after an extensive tour on the mountain pastures, a stop at one of the huts provides the necessary refreshment before the descent. We recommend a traditional alpine snack with bacon bread and alpine cheese and many other savoury delicacies.
